Ubiquitous aromatic carbon chemistry at the earliest stages of star formation

چکیده

Benzonitrile (c-C6H5CN, where ‘c’ indicates a cyclic structure), polar proxy for benzene (c-C6H6), has the potential to serve as highly convenient radio probe aromatic chemistry, provided that this ring can be found in other astronomical sources beyond molecule-rich prestellar cloud TMC-1. Here we present evidence of benzonitrile four prestellar, and possibly protostellar, sources: Serpens 1A, 1B, 2 MC27/L1521F. These detections establish is not unique TMC-1; rather, chemistry appears widespread throughout earliest stages star formation, probably persisting at least until initial formation protostar. The abundance far exceeds predictions from models well reproduce abundances carbon chains such HC7N, cyanpolyyne with same heavy atoms, indicating responsible planar structures (as opposed linear ones) primordial favourable but understood. relative chain molecules displays sizable variations between within Taurus clouds, implying importance physical conditions elemental reservoirs clouds themselves. Benzonitrile, molecule benzene, now been detected multiple locations molecular suggesting interstellar medium. Chemical underestimate molecules, highlighting need further study.

The Eagle Nebula ’ s fingers – pointers to the earliest stages of star formation ?

Molecular line, millimetre/submillimetre continuum, and mid-IR observations are reported of the opaque fingers which cross the Eagle Nebula. The fingers are surprisingly warm when viewed in the CO J= 3–2 lines, with kinetic temperatures approaching 60 K, although the lines are relatively narrow. Most of the mass in the fingers is concentrated in cores which lie at the tips of the fingers, and c...

Masers from blind surveys mark the earliest stages of massive star formation

We report SIMBA 1.2 mm dust continuum observations of the environments of eight methanol maser sources, all discovered during spatially fully-sampled, untargeted surveys of the galactic plane. We summarise our search for possible associations of the masers with IR sources (IRAS and MSX) and find that it is not always possible to make definite associations. A preliminary characterisation of the ...

Experimenting with the Earliest Stages of Planet Formation

Overarching aim: Our scientific goal is to describe, qualitatively and quantitatively, the collisions that dominate the earliest stages of icy planetesimal-formation, to answer, “how do planets form?” We are one of four groups world-wide approaching this empirically, using laboratory experiments to test icy grain collisions, taking advantage of the microgravity duration and quality in parabolic...

Development of retinal vessels. II. Earliest stages of vessel formation.

The initial development of retinal vessels in the rat was studied by light and electron microscopy. In the 15-day-old rat embryo undifferentiated cells derive from the outer wall of the hyaloid vessel, or the immediate surrounding tissue, and migrate into the peripapillary retina beneath the internal limiting membrane. No vascular budding is evident. The cells proliferate, form a network, and t...
