چکیده

Abstract Background Bony fusion rate was significantly lower in patients with type 3 Modic change than normal endplates. It is not known whether there are relevant differences efficiency among 2 sclerotic or non-sclerotic change, no change. Methods A retrospective study contained 196 lumbar segments 123 subjects undergoing posterior interbody (PLIF) pedicle screw instrumentation (PSI) to assess the effect of on efficiency. These endplates were allocated into groups A, B, and C, according their changes. Group had endplate sclerosis. B without C neither nor The presence determined by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Endplate sclerosis detected computed tomography (CT) before operation. We collected CT data months more 24 after operation bony fusion. Results Incidences 58.8% group 95.0% 94.3% C. either There significant difference between Thus, a PLIF PSI. Conclusion Type could be an important factor that affects solid may help diagnose inform choice best site for spinal

This was a retrospective review of a consecutive series of patients with spinal disease in year 2000, who underwent posterior fusion and instrumentation with Harrington distraction and Cotrel-Dobousset system to evaluate causes of hardware failure. Many cases of clinical failure has been observed in spinal instrumentation used in spinal disorder like spondylolisthesis, fractures, deformities, …...

The biomechanics of pedicle screw-based instrumentation.

There are three basic concepts that are important to the biomechanics of pedicle screw-based instrumentation. First, the outer diameter of the screw determines pullout strength, while the inner diameter determines fatigue strength. Secondly, when inserting a pedicle screw, the dorsal cortex of the spine should not be violated and the screws on each side should converge and be of good length. Th...

Pedicle screw placement in patients with variant atlas pedicle

OBJECTIVE To investigate how the anatomy of variant atlas vertebra impacts on the strategy used to place pedicle screws used to treat atlantoaxial instability. METHODS The study enrolled patients with cervical instability who had a posterior arch pedicle height <3.5 mm at the anchor point, a vertebral artery groove height <3.5 mm, or both. Pedicle screws were fitted according to the anatomy o...

Biomechanics of posterior instrumentation in L1-L3 lateral interbody fusion: Pedicle screw rod construct vs. transfacet pedicle screws.

BACKGROUND The use of pedicle screws is the gold standard for supplemental posterior fixation in lateral interbody fusion. Information about the performance of transfacet pedicle screws compared to standard pedicle screws and rods in the upper lumbar spine with or without a lateral interbody fusion device in place is limited. METHODS Fifteen fresh frozen human cadaveric lumbar spine segments ...

Pedicle screw versus hybrid instrumentation in adolescent idiopathic scoliosis

BACKGROUND Incidence of complications and reoperations between pedicle screw (PS) and hybrid instrumentations (HI) are still controversial in adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) patients. A systematic review and meta-analysis were performed to compare overall complications, reoperations, and radiographic outcomes between the 2 constructs. METHODS Strictly followed the PRISMA 2009 guidelines...
