Two-Pion Exchange in proton-proton Scattering
The cross section and the spin-correlation observable, CNN, measured in the region from 0 to 12 GeV/c Plab at 90 o provide an excellent testing ground for our theories of hadronic interactions. These data have been the focus of a number of experimental [1] and theoretical studies [2]. There is an apparent simplification of the amplitude in the region from 4 GeV/c to 8 GeV/c. At 90 ◦ the spin-co...
متن کاملThe diquark and elastic pion-proton scattering at high energies
Small momentum transfer elastic pion-proton cross-section at high energies is calculated assuming the proton is composed of two constituents, a quark and a diquark. We find that it is possible to fit very precisely the data when (i) the pion acts as a single entity (no constituent quark structure) and (ii) the diquark is rather large, comparable to the size of the proton.
متن کاملChiral two - pion exchange and proton - proton partial - wave analysis
The chiral two-pion exchange component of the long-range pp interaction is studied in an energy-dependent partial-wave analysis. We demonstrate its presence and importance, and determine the chiral parameters ci (i = 1, 3, 4). The values agree well with those obtained from pion-nucleon amplitudes. 11.80.Et, 12.39.Fe, 13.75.Cs, 21.30.-x Typeset using REVTEX
متن کاملHELICITY AND PLANAR AMPLITUDES IN PION-PROTON SCATTERING AT 6.0 GeV/c
In addition to optimal conditions, invariant laws of Lorentz, parity and time reversal are imposed to find the relation between observables (spin rotation parameters) and bilinear combination of helicity amplitudes in pion-proton elastic scattering at 6.0 GeV/c. By normalizing the differential cross-section to unity, the magnitudes of helicity amplitudes and the angle between them are dete...
متن کاملMultiple scattering theory of proton elastic scattering at intermediate energies.
We derive and calculate the multiple scattering expansion of the Kerman-McManus-Thaler optical potential to second order in the free nucleon-nucleon transition amplitude and clarify the physical content of the interaction. Calculations are presented for the elastic scattering of protons from ' 0 at 135, 200, and 300 MeV incident energies, paying particular attention to the nonlocalities inheren...
