Two-level system hyperpolarization using a quantum Szilard engine

چکیده

The innate complexity of solid state physics exposes superconducting quantum circuits to interactions with uncontrolled degrees freedom degrading their coherence. By using a simple stabilization sequence we show that fluxonium qubit is coupled two-level system (TLS) environment unknown origin, relatively long energy relaxation time exceeding $50\,\text{ms}$. Implementing Szilard engine an active feedback control loop allows us decide whether the heats or cools its TLS environment. TLSs can be cooled down resulting in four times lower population, they heated manifest themselves as negative temperature corresponding population $\sim 80\,\%$. We and are each other's dominant loss mechanism independent populations. Understanding mitigating environments therefore not only crucial improve lifetimes but also avoid non-Markovian dynamics.

Quantum Szilard engine.

The Szilard engine (SZE) is the quintessence of Maxwell's demon, which can extract the work from a heat bath by utilizing information. We present the first complete quantum analysis of the SZE, and derive an analytic expression of the quantum-mechanical work performed by a quantum SZE containing an arbitrary number of molecules, where it is crucial to regard the process of insertion or removal ...

Coherent Control of Quantum Entropy via Quantum Interference in a Four-Level Atomic System

The time evaluation of quantum entropy in a four-level double- type atomic system is theoretically investigated. Quantum entanglement of the atom and its spontaneous emission fields is then discussed via quantum entropy. It is found that the degree of entanglement can be increased by the quantum interference induced by spontaneous emission. The phase dependence of the atom-field entanglement is...

Two-Level Smart Search Engine Using Ontology-Based Semantic Reasoning

Traditional search engines are typically keywordbased, which cannot understand the semantics of a query or relationships among queried concepts, causing much of the related information to be absent from the search results. As opposed to traditional keyword-based search engines, in this paper, we introduce an approach to developing a smart search engine using ontology-based semantic reasoning. T...

Cavity optomechanics mediated by a quantum two-level system

Coupling electromagnetic waves in a cavity and mechanical vibrations via the radiation pressure of photons is a promising platform for investigations of quantum-mechanical properties of motion. A drawback is that the effect of one photon tends to be tiny, and hence one of the pressing challenges is to substantially increase the interaction strength. A novel scenario is to introduce into the set...

On the measurement problem for a two-level quantum system

A geometric approach to quantum mechanics with unitary evolution and nonunitary collapse processes is developed. In this approach the Schrödinger evolution of a quantum system is a geodesic motion on the space of states of the system furnished with an appropriate Riemannian metric. The measuring device is modeled by a perturbation of the metric. The process of measurement is identified with a g...
