Apparent fractal dimensions in the HMF model
We show that recent observations of fractal dimensions in the μ-space of N -body Hamiltonian systems with long-range interactions are due to finite N and finite resolution effects. We provide strong numerical evidence that, in the continuum (Vlasov) limit, a set which initially is not a fractal (e.g. a line in 2D) remains such for all finite times. We perform this analysis for the Hamiltonian M...
متن کاملTopological excitonic superfluids in three dimensions
We study the equilibrium and nonequilibrium properties of topological dipolar intersurface exciton condensates within time-reversal invariant topological insulators in three spatial dimensions without a magnetic field. We elucidate that, in order to correctly identify the proper pairing symmetry within the condensate order parameter, the full three-dimensional Hamiltonian must be considered. As...
متن کاملHydrodynamic coupling between two fluid membranes.
The coupled in-plane diffusion dynamics between point-particles embedded in stacked fluid membranes is investigated. We calculate the contributions to the coupling longitudinal and transverse diffusion coefficients due to particle motion within the different as well as the same membranes. The stacked geometry leads to a hydrodynamic coupling between the two membranes.
متن کاملFONT DISCRIMINATIO USING FRACTAL DIMENSIONS
One of the related problems of OCR systems is discrimination of fonts in machine printed document images. This task improves performance of general OCR systems. Proposed methods in this paper are based on various fractal dimensions for font discrimination. First, some predefined fractal dimensions were combined with directional methods to enhance font differentiation. Then, a novel fractal dime...
