April 1993 TWO DIMENSIONAL QCD IS A ONE DIMENSIONAL KAZAKOV - MIGDAL MODEL
We calculate the partition functions of QCD in two dimensions on a cylinder and on a torus in the gauge ∂ 0 A 0 = 0 by integrating explicitly over the non zero modes of the Fourier expansion in the periodic time variable. The result is a one dimensional Kazakov-Migdal matrix model with eigenvalues on a circle rather than on a line. We prove that our result coincides with the standard expansion ...
متن کاملThe Spatial Dynamics in Kazakov – Migdal Model
The spatially inhomogeneous large N solutions to Kazakov–Migdal model are analyzed. The set of nonlinear differential equations is derived in the continuum limit. In one dimensional case these equations has a natural interpretation in terms of the dynamics of a Fermi gas. The multidimensional case seems to be inconsistent because of its instability related to the collapse of eigenvalues of the ...
متن کاملStatus of the Kazakov–Migdal Model
In this talk I discuss both the present status and some recent work on the Kazakov–Migdal Model which was originally proposed as a soluble, large N realization of QCD. After a brief description of the model and a discussion of its solubility in the large N limit I discuss several of the serious problems with the model which lead to the conclusion that it does not induce QCD. The model is noneth...
متن کاملThe Spectrum of the Kazakov-Migdal Model
Gross has found an exact expression for the density of eigenvalues in the simplest version of the Kazakov-Migdal model of induced QCD. In this paper we compute the spectrum of small fluctuations around Gross’s semi-circular solution. By solving Migdal’s wave equation we find a string-like spectrum which, in four dimensions, corresponds to the infinite tower of mesons in strong coupling lattice ...
متن کاملThe Problem of Large-N Phase Transition in Kazakov–Migdal Model of Induced QCD
We study the lattice gauge model proposed recently by Kazakov and Migdal for inducing QCD. We discuss an extra local ZN which is a symmetry of the model and propose of how to construct observables. We discuss the role of the large-N phase transition which should occur before the one associated with the continuum limit in order that the model describes continuum QCD. We formulate the mean field ...
