Two-Dimensional Modelling Approach for Electrokinetic Water Transport in Unsaturated Kaolinite

چکیده

Although electrokinetic treatments for soil remediation and ground improvement have gradually undergone significant experimental development, one of the most important physical phenomena has received very little attention in recent years. Electroosmotic flow, especially unsaturated conditions, not been simulated domains more than dimension. In present work, a modification M4EKR code was used to study water movement partially saturated soils under treatments. Two different configurations were studied: electrodes placed electrolyte wells directly inserted into soil, treatment started conditions both. Due unrestricted availability fluid first case, saturation is inevitable, but second only spatial redistribution content can be observed. A detailed analysis variety involving several showed that number electrodes, distance between them and, above all, ratio two magnitudes determines efficiency energy consumed process.

A New Two Dimensional Model for Pollutant Transport in Ajichai River

Accurate prediction of pollution control and environmental protection need a good understanding of pollutant dynamics. Numerical model techniques are important apparatus in this research area. So a 2500 line FORTRAN 95 version code was conducted in which using approximate Riemann solver, couples the shallow water and pollution transport agents in two dimensions by the aid of unstructured meshes...

Modelling of Water Flow and Solute Transport in Double Porosity Unsaturated Media: Theory, Two-scale Computations and Experiments

“Multi-scale, multi-components, multi-phases” are the key words that characterize the double porosity media, like fissured rocks, aggregated soils or composite geomaterials, subject to environmental conditions. In relation to this context an integrated upscaling approach to the modelling of water flow and solute transport under unsaturated conditions in double porosity media, is presented. The ...

Electrokinetic coupling in unsaturated porous media.

We consider a charged porous material that is saturated by two fluid phases that are immiscible and continuous on the scale of a representative elementary volume. The wetting phase for the grains is water and the nonwetting phase is assumed to be an electrically insulating viscous fluid. We use a volume-averaging approach to derive the linear constitutive equations for the electrical current de...

Experimental Study on Electrokinetic of Kaolinite Particles in Aqueous Suspensions

Influence of aqueous phase properties and process parameters on kaolinite particle zeta potential was quantified by electrophoresis experiments. The results indicated that pH strongly altered the zeta potential of kaolinite and it decreases at the beginning and then increases in the range of pH = 2–13. The activity of different cations changes the zeta potential and has the following tendency o...

Two-dimensional modelling of preferential water flow and pesticide transport from a tile-drained field

Preferential flow through soil macropores in tile drained soils can significantly increase the risk of pollution of surface water bodies by agricultural chemicals such as pesticides. While many field studies have shown the importance of preferential flow in tile-drained fields, few have included detailed numerical modelling of the processes involved. The objective of this study was to compare f...
