Two-color differential dynamic microscopy for capturing fast dynamics

چکیده

Differential dynamic microscopy (DDM) is increasingly used in the fields of soft matter physics and biophysics to extract dynamics microscopic objects across a range wavevectors using optical microscopy. Standard DDM limited detecting no faster than camera frame rate. We report on an extension where we sequentially illuminate sample with spectrally-distinct light image color camera. By pulsing blue then red separated by lag time much smaller camera's exposure are able use this two-color method measure occurring

Fast Scanning Two-Photon Microscopy

Fast scanning two-photon microscopy coupled with the use light activated ion channels provides the basis for fast imaging and stimulation in the characterization of in vivo neural networks. A two-photon microscope capable of fast scanning using acousto-optic deflectors was designed and implemented. The software controller was expanded so that random access scan in three dimensions could be hand...

Two-color STED microscopy in living cells

Diffraction-unlimited resolution provided by Stimulated Emission Depletion (STED) microscopy allows for imaging cellular processes in living cells that are not visible by conventional microscopy. However, it has so far not been possible to study dynamic nanoscale interactions because multicolor live cell STED microscopy has yet to be demonstrated and suitable labeling technologies and protocols...

Capturing dynamics with Eiger, a fast-framing X-ray detector

Eiger is the next-generation single-photon-counting pixel detector following the widely used Pilatus detector. Its smaller pixel size of 75 µm × 75 µm, higher frame rate of up to 22 kHz, and practically zero dead-time (~4 µs) between exposures will further various measurement methods at synchrotron sources. In this article Eiger's suitability for X-ray photon correlation spectroscopy (XPCS) is ...

Differential dynamic microscopy of bacterial motility.

We demonstrate a method for the fast, high-throughput characterization of the dynamics of active particles. Specifically, we measure the swimming speed distribution and motile cell fraction in Escherichia coli suspensions. By averaging over ∼10(4) cells, our method is highly accurate compared to conventional tracking, yielding a routine tool for motility characterization. We find that the diffu...
