Twin Roll Caster for Clad Strip

Production of aluminum alloy clad strips requires many processes, and a reduction in the number processes has long been demanded. A method to cast directly from molten metal using twin roll caster with copper rolls is proposed this work. Two types casters were designed tested. One was vertical-type tandem other equipped scraper. The casting conducted an oxidizing atmosphere. at speeds higher than 15 m/min. This speed much that conventional for alloys. load smaller 0.2 kN/mm. small means not bonded by hot rolling. had clear interface between strips, elements each strip did diffuse into strips. fracture tension shear test. strongly bonded.
