Turbulence characterization of instantaneous airflow above passengers with different air distribution systems in a commercial airliner cabin

The environment inside airliner cabins has attracted increasing attention. Instantaneous airflow, as one of the fundamental parameters airflow field, affects aspects cabin such occupant comfort and airborne disease transmission. This study evaluated characteristics instantaneous in with different ventilation systems (mixing displacement ventilation) focused on region above passengers' heads, where complex turbulence are found. investigation used ultrasonic anemometers for measurements at ten selected points heads. energy ratio low-frequency scale mixing was greater than that ventilation. close to natural wind, while mechanical wind. Compared ventilation, produced a smaller vortex length shorter residence time. Moreover, there no long-term flow field under therefore, pollutants would be discharged more quickly from cabin.
