Background: Even though tumours are considered to occur frequently in pet hamsters, there is only a small number of scientific reports current literature. Methods: Pathological from 177 hamsters were evaluated. Results: Of these, 78 male and 75 female. Median age affected was 12 months (range 2–34). Integumental the most common neoplasms (62%, 109/177). As far as species known, Syrian (52%, 30/58) by seemed be lower than dwarf (85%, 47/55). Tumours hematopoietic system second (17%, 30/177). Relative endocrine system, digestive (1.7%, 3/177) other (4%, 7/177 each) low. The majority integumental epithelial (66%; 91/126). Conclusion: This study aimed analyze data veterinary surgeries pathological institutes about occurrence spontaneous give information frequency tumours, prognosis survival time. first Germany so far.

meantime by Gye and Foulds ( 1) no observations on this animal have been recorded. We used the Syrian, or golden, hamster ( Cricctus auratus), of which one strain is bred in our laboratory. Animals weighing about 80 gm. were injected subcutaneously, in the abdominal region, with benzpyrene Meurice, 0.25 C.C. of a solution in lard, every three or four weeks, the injections being interrupted as s...
متن کاملPET in face and neck tumours
FDG-PET is a useful tool in the imaging of head and neck tumours. It can be used to stage the primary tumour, to assess response to therapy and most importantly for the detection of recurrent tumour. The advantages and limitations of this technique are discussed in this article.
متن کاملPolyomavirus infection in hamsters and trichoepitheliomas/cutaneous adnexal tumours.
Multiple skin nodules, with histological features of adnexal tumours consistent with trichoepithelioma, were observed on the head and trunk of Syrian hamsters. Skin biopsies from 20 hamsters from five different colonies were affected, and two of the affected hamsters also had lymphoma. Two owners reported that 16 of 70 hamsters and 50 of 100 hamsters in their colonies had similar skin lesions. ...
متن کاملQuantifying heterogeneity in human tumours using MRI and PET.
Most tumours, even those of the same histological type and grade, demonstrate considerable biological heterogeneity. Variations in genomic subtype, growth factor expression and local microenvironmental factors can result in regional variations within individual tumours. For example, localised variations in tumour cell proliferation, cell death, metabolic activity and vascular structure will be ...
متن کاملAffibody-mediated PET imaging of HER3 expression in malignant tumours
Human epidermal growth factor receptor 3 (HER3) is involved in the progression of various cancers and in resistance to therapies targeting the HER family. In vivo imaging of HER3 expression would enable patient stratification for anti-HER3 immunotherapy. Key challenges with HER3-targeting are the relatively low expression in HER3-positive tumours and HER3 expression in normal tissues. The use o...
