Trunk fat volume can be a predictor of postoperative complications after gastrectomy: a retrospective cohort study

چکیده
Abstract Background Obesity can affect postoperative outcomes of gastrectomy. Visceral fat area is superior to body mass index in predicting complications. However, visceral measurement time-consuming and not optimum for clinical use. Meanwhile, trunk volume (TFV) be easily measured via bioelectrical impedance analysis. Hence, the current study aimed determine ability TFV predict occurrence complications after Methods We retrospectively reviewed patients who underwent curative gastrectomy gastric cancer between November 2016 2019. The volume-to-the ideal amount (%TFV) ratio was obtained using InBody 770 before surgery. were classified into obese nonobese groups according %TFV (TFV-H group, ≥ 150%; TFV-L < 150%) (BMI-H 25 kg/m 2 ; BMI-L ). compared short-term (e.g., operative time, blood loss volume, number resected lymph nodes, duration hospital stay) patients. Risk factors assessed logistic regression Results In total, 232 included this study. TFV-H BMI-H had a significantly longer time than ( p = 0.022) 0.006). Moreover, group higher complication rate 0.004) lower nodes 0.001) group. univariate analysis, 150, total or proximal gastrectomy, open found potentially associated with rates 0.1 all). multivariate analysis revealed that 150 (OR: 2.73; 95% CI: 1.37–5.46; 0.005) 3.57; 1.79–7.12; independently correlated morbidity. Conclusions affected it may useful parameter evaluation obesity predictor

Excessive visceral fat area as a risk factor for early postoperative complications of total gastrectomy for gastric cancer: a retrospective cohort study
BACKGROUND Obesity is a known risk factor for complications after digestive surgery. Body mass index (BMI) is commonly used as an index of obesity but does not always reflect the degree of obesity. Although some studies have shown that high visceral fat area (VFA) is associated with poor outcomes in digestive surgery, few have examined the relationship between VFA and total gastrectomy. In this...

BACKGROUND Perioperative mortality after pancreaticoduodenectomy has decreased significantly in high-volume centers, but morbidity remains high. Restrictive perioperative fluid management may contribute to reduced complication rates after various surgical procedures. The aim of this study was to determine whether there is a correlation between the amount of fluid administered and postoperative ...
