Triple‐Responsive Polyampholytic Graft Copolymers as Smart Sensors with Varying Output

چکیده

Inside cover: In article number 2000671 by Felix H. Schacher and co-workers, triple stimuli-responsive polymeric materials are obtained via a straightforward synthetic route. Exhibiting thermosensitive side chain polyampholytic backbone, these react to changes in environmental pH, temperature, as well the presence amount of metal ions. As this results simple outputs like turbidity or shift absorption, high potential is foreseen sensing applications.

Acrylonitrile Block and Graft Copolymers

This paper presents a review of the methods available for preparing block and graft copolymers in which one component is acrylonitrile. Methods using polymer ions and polymer radicals are considered together with a useful new technique based on reactions of nitrile groups with amide compounds of group IV transition metals. Because of its polarity and its unusual solubility properties, a polyacr...

Single Macromolecule Nanomechanical Design: Poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate-g-ethylene glycol) Graft Copolymers of Varying Architecture

With the advent of nanotechnology, the behavior of individual polymer chains is increasingly being studied due to their potential to act as molecular springs, switches, sensors, shock absorbers, and motors. Single molecule force spectroscopy (SMFS) or “tensile testing” is a powerful technique that is fast enabling rational nanomechanical design of synthetic polymers for such applications.1-3 Re...

Robust nanogenerators based on graft copolymers via control of dielectrics for remarkable output power enhancement

A robust nanogenerator based on poly(tert-butyl acrylate) (PtBA)-grafted polyvinylidene difluoride (PVDF) copolymers via dielectric constant control through an atom-transfer radical polymerization technique, which can markedly increase the output power, is demonstrated. The copolymer is mainly composed of α phases with enhanced dipole moments due to the π-bonding and polar characteristics of th...

Rapid Analysis of Starch Graft Copolymers

Starch graft copolymers are expected to become increasingly important as industrial and consumer chemicals in a large variety of end uses. Therefore, a quick and accurate analytical characterization of the graft copolymer is desirable. Vinyl side chains from starch-vinyl graft copolymers have preViously been isolated by several methods. Brockway (1) hydrolyzed the starch moiety with 1 N HCl at ...
