Dissolving star cluster candidates
We present a list of 34 neglected entries from star cluster catalogues located at relatively high galactic latitudes (|b| > 15) which appear to be candidate late stages of star cluster dynamical evolution. Although underpopulated with respect to usual open clusters, they still present a high number density contrast as compared to the galactic field. This was verified by means of (i) predicted m...
متن کاملAbundances of Extremely Metal-Poor Star Candidates
We present chemical abundances for 110 stars identified in objective-prism surveys as candidates to be very metal-poor. The abundances are derived from high S/N, intermediate-resolution spectra obtained with the Keck Observatory Echelle Spectrometer and Imager. An additional 25 stars with well-determined abundances ranging from [Fe/H]= −1.5 and −3.2 were observed and the results used to help ca...
متن کاملPhotometry of dissolving star cluster candidates
We present CCD UBVI observations obtained in the field of the two previously unstudied dissolving open cluster candidates NGC 7036 and NGC 7772. Our analysis suggests that both the objects are Open Cluster Remnants (OCR). NGC 7036 is an open cluster remnant with a core radius of about 3-4 arcmin. We derive for the first time estimates of its fundamental parameters. We identify 17 likely members...
متن کاملBK Viremia among Iranian Renal Transplant Candidates
Background: Primary infection with BK virus (BKV) is occurred during childhood and usually asymptomatic, but after initial infection, BKV may persist lifelong in the kidney and genitourinary tract. Reactivation may occur in individuals with compromised immunity such as renal transplant recipients. Due to the role of BKV in BK virus-associated nephropathy (BKVAN) and po...
متن کاملKIC 2856960: the impossible triple star
KIC 2856960 is a star in the Kepler field which was observed by Kepler for 4 years. It shows the primary and secondary eclipses of a close binary of period 0.258 d as well as complex dipping events that last for about 1.5 d at a time and recur on a 204 d period. The dips are thought to result when the close binary passes across the face of a third star. In this paper we present an attempt to mo...
