چکیده
Abstract The friction and wear reducing properties of ammonium thiomolybdate as a water‐soluble lubricant additive were evaluated using pin‐on‐disck tribometer on steel‐steel contact. tribological performance aqueous solutions prepared at concentrations between 0.1 0.3 wt% Mo the same load (10 N), entrainment speed, sliding distance temperature. Although there is reduction compared with pure water, significant difference observed, depending concentration. SEM/EDAX Raman spectroscopy analyses tracks specimens tested below reveal formation FeS which responsible for gradually coefficient from values 0.30 0.5 down to ~0.11. At Mo, indicated MoS 2 keeps in ~0.05, lowest recorded value.

The tribological properties of zinc borate ultrafine powder as a lubricant additive in sunflower oil
This paper presents an investigation on the tribological properties of zinc borate ultrafine powder (ZBUP) employed as a lubricant additive in sunflower oil. The stable dispersions of 0.5 wt%, 1 wt% and 2 wt% ZBUP in sunflower oil were achieved by using an ultrasonic homogenizer. Both a 4-ball tester and a pin-on-disc tester were employed to evaluate the antiwear and friction reduction capabili...
متن کاملTribological Performance of Green Lubricant Enhanced by Sulfidation IF-MoS2
Biopolymers reinforced with nanoparticle (NP) additives are widely used in tribological applications. In this study, the effect of NP additives on the tribological properties of a green lubricant hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) composite was investigated. The IF-MoS₂ NPs were prepared using the newly developed gas phase sulfidation method to form a multilayered, polyhedral structure. The n...
متن کاملTribological Behaviors of Graphene and Graphene Oxide as Water-Based Lubricant Additives for Magnesium Alloy/Steel Contacts
The tribological behaviors of graphene and graphene oxide (GO) as water-based lubricant additives were evaluated by use of a reciprocating ball-on-plate tribometer for magnesium alloy-steel contacts. Three sets of test conditions were examined to investigate the effect of concentration, the capacity of carrying load and the endurance of the lubrication film, respectively. The results showed tha...
متن کاملThe preparation and tribological properties of surface modified zinc borate ultrafine powder as a lubricant additive in liquid paraffin
This paper investigates the effects of surface modification of zinc borate ultrafine powders (ZB UFPs) on their tribological properties as lubricant additives in liquid paraffin (LP). ZB UFPs were successfully modified by hexadecyltrimethoxysilane (HDTMOS) and oleic acid (OA). It is evident that HDTMOS modified zinc borate ultrafine powder (HDTMOS-ZB UFP) delivered a small conglomerate size, go...
متن کاملInfluence of boric acid additive size on green lubricant performance.
As the industrial community moves towards green manufacturing processes, there is an increased demand for multi-functional, environmentally friendly lubricants with enhanced tribological performance. In the present investigation, green (environmentally benign) lubricant combinations were prepared by homogeneously mixing nano- (20 nm), sub-micrometre- (600 nm average size) and micrometre-scale (...
