Tribological behavior of WC-Co-CaF2 self-lubricating cemented carbides

In this study, CaF2 was introduced into WC-Co to prepare bulk self-lubricating cemented carbides by sinter-HIP. The studied compositions were WC-12Co with no more than 20 vol% additions. effects of on the tribological behaviors and mechanical properties investigated. It found that prepared nearly fully dense would refine WC grains. Although could not obviously enhance carbides, it improved their remarkably. friction coefficient wear loss during dry sliding be reduced noticeably introduction CaF2. mechanism performance improvement attributed lubricating film formation process. avoid direct contact between counterparts prevent severe materials. This study provides a new promising approach for achieve better performances self-lubrication design.
