Tribocorrosion Behavior of Inconel 718 Fabricated by Laser Powder Bed Fusion-Based Additive Manufacturing

Additive manufacturing (AM) by laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) has gained significant research attention to fabricate complex 3D Inconel alloy components for jet engines. The strategic advantages of LPBF-based AM aerospace applications are well reported. exposed a high degree vibration during the operation in variable aqueous environment. combined and environment create tribological condition that can accelerate failure mechanism. Therefore, it is critical understand tribocorrosion behavior alloy. In present work, LPBF fabricated standalone coating 718 3.5% NaCl solution presented. samples analyzed determine impact porosity, generated as result LPBF, on triobocorrosion 718. study includes potentiodynamic tests, cathodic polarization, along with OCP measurements. corrosive found increase wear 29.24% 49.5% without initiation corrosion case wrought 718, respectively. A accelerated form observed Additionally, effect even when surface equilibrium potential no scan applied. This provides an insight into aspect components.
