Parallel Algorithms for Orthotropic Problems
Finite element meshes and nodenumberings suitable for parallel solution with equally loaded processors are presented for linear orthotropic elliptic partial differential equations. These problems are of great importance for instance in oil and airfoil industry. The linear systems of equations are solved by the conjugate gradient method preconditioned by modified incomplete factorization, MIC. T...
متن کاملThe Modified Collocation Trefftz Method and Laplacian Decomposition for Solving Two-dimensional Stokes Problems
In this paper, the two-dimensional Stokes problem is analyzed by the modified collocation Trefftz method (MCTM) and the Laplacian decomposition. The coupled Stokes equations are converted to three Laplace equations by utilizing the Laplacian decomposition and then the boundary-type meshless MCTM is adopted to solve the resultant Laplace equations. The MCTM, free from mesh and numerical quadratu...
متن کاملFEM with Trefftz trial functions on polyhedral elements
The goal of this paper is to generalize the BEM-based FEM for second order elliptic boundary value problems to three space dimensions with the emphasis on polyhedral meshes with polygonal faces, where even nonconvex elements are allowed. Due to an implicit definition of the trial functions, the strategy yields conforming approximations and is very flexible with respect to the meshes. Thus, it g...
متن کاملSchwarz Type Solvers for hp-FEM Discretizations of Mixed Problems
The Stokes problem and linear elasticity problems can be viewed as a mixed variational formulation. These formulations are discretized by means of the hp-version of the finite element method. The system of linear algebraic equations is solved by the preconditioned Bramble-Pasciak conjugate gradient method. The development an efficient preconditioner requires three ingredients, a preconditioner ...
متن کاملSolution representations for Trefftz-type finite elements
Solution representations are available for severeal differential equations. For elasticity problems some of the solution representations are considered in this paper. The solution representations can be used for a systematic construction of Trefftz functions for the derivation of Trefftz-type finite elements. For the example of a thick plate a set of Trefftz functions is presented.
