Treatment of nitrate-nitrogen-containing wastewater via aerobic denitrifying bacteria using different carbon sources

نویسندگان

چکیده

The effect of different carbon sources was studied relative to the treatment aerobic denitrifying bacteria during nitrate-containing wastewater as well influence co-metabolism flora. Three sources, i.e., glucose, citric acid, and sodium acetate, were selected study changes in pH, nitrate nitrogen, chemical oxygen demand removal, nitrite nitrogen concentration, physical properties sludge volatile fatty acids, high-throughput sequencing any results showed that denitrification ability system using acid source stronger than glucose or acetate source. removal result producing bacteria. Due greater number types amount dominant domesticated cultured with a source, flora formed more stable, so it could better remove nitrogen.

Nitrate Removal from Wastewater Using Different Carbon Sources

Nutrient loading in water bodies has known to cause eutrophication and nutrient leaching. These are identified as a major global environmental issue, contributing to health hazards and various environmental threats. There are many sources of nitrogen and phosphorus which have been increased largely over the years. Instead of controlling the source, the main processes involved is the reduction o...

Denitrification of high nitrate concentration wastewater using alternative carbon sources.

The use of different organic carbon sources in the denitrification of wastewater containing 2500 mg nitrates/L in a SBR was studied. Three alternative sources of carbon were tested: wastewater from a sweet factory, a residue from a soft drinks factory and a residue from a dairy plant. The first two are sugar-rich, whereas the third presents a high content in lactic acid. Maximum specific denitr...

Efficient treatment of baker’s yeast wastewater using aerobic membrane bioreactor

A membrane bioreactor (MBR) system based on a dead-end immersed hollow fiber membrane and filamentous fungus Aspergillus oryzae were used for treatment of baker’s yeast wastewater. The fungus was adapted to the wastewater in the bioreactor for two weeks before starting the continuous process. Average organic loading rate of 4.2 kg COD/m3.d was entered the bioreactor. MBR system was able to redu...

Nitrogen and oxygen isotope fractionation during dissimilatory nitrate reduction by denitrifying bacteria

We report the first measurements of coupled nitrogen (N) and oxygen (O) isotope fractionation of nitrate by laboratory cultures of denitrifying bacteria. Two seawater strains (Pseudomonas stutzeri, Ochrobactrum sp.) and three freshwater strains (Paracoccus denitrificans, Pseudomonas chlororaphis, Rhodobacter sphaeroides) were examined. Among four strains of facultative anaerobic denitrifiers, N...

Treatment of Wastewater Containing Carbohydrates using Pichia Saitoi Culture

Treatment of wastewater containing carbohydrates by Pichia saitoi growing on beet molasses was investigated in a well-mixed continuous tank as an alternative to bulking control. The yeast strain that used in this work was isolated from non-alcoholic beverage industrial wastewater, with a view on TOC removal compared with other strains in previous study. In this research the isolated yeast showed ...
