چکیده
Epilepsy is a neurological disease characterized by recurrent seizures that can lead to uncontrollable muscle twitching, changes in sensitivity sensory perceptions, and disorders of consciousness. Although modern medicine has effective antiepileptic drugs, the need for accessible cost-effective medication urgent, products derived from plants could offer solution. For this review, we have focused on natural compounds shown anticonvulsant activity vivo models epilepsy at relevant doses. In some cases, effects been confirmed clinical data. The results our search are summarized tables according their molecular targets. We critically evaluated data present, identified most promising therapeutic candidates, discussed these text. Their perspectives supported both pharmacokinetic properties potential interactions. This review intended serve as basis future research into related disorders.

متن کاملTreating refractory generalized epilepsy with stimulation.
Commentary Idiopathic generalized epilepsies (IGE) represent around 20% of all new-onset epilepsy and are controlled with various an-tiepileptic drugs in up to 80% of the cases. For the remaining 20% with intractable IGE, treatment options are limited. Most new AED clinical trials evaluate cohorts with partial epilepsy. The ketogenic diet has helped many children with catastrophic symptomatic g...

Epilepsy remains difficult to treat with more than 30% of patients being refractory to conventional anticonvulsant therapy. Combination therapy may improve seizure control in some of these patients. Tiagabine is a new anticonvulsant that has a unique mechanism of action as a selective gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) re-uptake inhibitor (SGRI). Twenty consecutive patients with refractory epilepsy...
