چکیده

The quest for a clean, renewable and sustainable energy future has been highly sought by the scientific community over last four decades. Photocatalytic water splitting is very promising technology to proffer solution present day environmental pollution crises generating hydrogen fuel through “green route” without pollution. Transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs) have outstanding properties which make them show great potential as effective co-catalysts with photocatalytic materials such TiO2, ZnO CdS splitting. Integration of TMDCs photocatalyst TiO2 provides novel nanohybrid composite characteristics. In this review, we current state research in application Three main aspects consider their properties, advances synthesis routes layered composites well performances reaction are discussed. Finally, raise some challenges perspectives water-splitting photocatalysts.

Photocatalytic overall water splitting on the perovskite-type transition metal oxynitride CaTaO2N under visible light irradiation.

Overall water splitting was achieved on a simple perovskite oxynitride photocatalyst, CaTaO2N, with an absorption edge at 510 nm. This photocatalyst, modified with a Rh-Cr bimetallic oxide cocatalyst, produced stoichiometric H2 and O2 steadily under UV and visible light irradiation after coating of the photocatalyst particles with amorphous Ti oxyhydroxide.

Metal–Organic Frameworks and Their Derivatives for Photocatalytic Water Splitting

Amongst many strategies for renewable energy conversion, light-driven water splitting to produce clean H2 represents a promising approach and has attracted increasing attention in recent years. Owing to the multi-electron/multi-proton transfer nature of water splitting, low-cost and competent catalysts are needed. Along the rapid development of metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) during the last tw...

Exciton formation in monolayer transition metal dichalcogenides.

Two-dimensional transition metal dichalcogenides provide a unique platform to study excitons in confined structures. Recently, several important aspects of excitons in these materials have been investigated in detail. However, the formation process of excitons from free carriers has yet to be understood. Here we report time-resolved measurements on the exciton formation process in monolayer sam...

Topological superconductivity in monolayer transition metal dichalcogenides

Theoretically, it has been known that breaking spin degeneracy and effectively realizing spinless fermions is a promising path to topological superconductors. Yet, topological superconductors are rare to date. Here we propose to realize spinless fermions by splitting the spin degeneracy in momentum space. Specifically, we identify monolayer hole-doped transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD)s as c...
