چکیده

In this paper, we present a method to measure transient fluorescent dynamics with single trapped ions in Paul trap. We use 40 Ca + that exhibit Λ-type three-level system and the characteristic optical pumping times between ground S 1/2 meta-stable D 3/2 levels. prepare one of these states then pump it opposite via excited P state. By measuring scattered photons ion, retrieve curves atomic fluorescence. These provide fundamental information about system, such as branching fractions excited-state lifetimes, well experimental parameters like efficiency detection saturation parameter transitions. Finally, study time-dependent fluorescence function power detuning lasers find very good agreement simulating open quantum through set Bloch equations. Being able record is particular interest contains temperature, cooling, heating ion.

Dynamical evolution of nonclassical properties in cavity quantum electrodynamics with a single trapped ion

In this paper, by considering a system consisting of a single two-level trapped ion interacting with a single-mode quantized radiation field inside a lossless cavity, the temporal evolution of the ionic and the cavity-field quantum statistical properties including photon-counting statistics, quantum fluctuations of the field quadratures and quantum fluctuations of the ionic dipole variables are...

Rydberg Excitation of a Single Trapped Ion.

We demonstrate excitation of a single trapped cold (40)Ca(+) ion to Rydberg levels by laser radiation in the vacuum ultraviolet at a wavelength of 122 nm. Observed resonances are identified as 3d(2)D(3/2) to 51F, 52F and 3d(2)D(5/2) to 64F. We model the line shape and our results imply a large state-dependent coupling to the trapping potential. Rydberg ions are of great interest for future appl...

Measurement of Dipole Matrix Elements with a Single Trapped Ion.

We demonstrate a method to determine dipole matrix elements by comparing measurements of dispersive and absorptive light ion interactions. We measure the matrix element pertaining to the Ca II H line, i.e., the 4(2)S(1/2)↔4(2)P(1/2) transition of (40)Ca(+), for which we find the value 2.8928(43) ea(0). Moreover, the method allows us to deduce the lifetime of the 4(2)P(1/2) state to be 6.904(26)...

Fluorescence during Doppler cooling of a single trapped atom

We investigate the temporal dynamics of Doppler cooling of an initially hot single trapped atom in the weak-binding regime using a semiclassical approach. We develop an analytical model for the simplest case of a single vibrational mode for a harmonic trap, and show how this model allows us to estimate the initial energy of the trapped particle by observing the time-dependent fluorescence durin...

Efficient fiber optic detection of trapped ion fluorescence.

Integration of fiber optics may play a critical role in the development of quantum information processors based on trapped ions and atoms by enabling scalable collection and delivery of light and coupling trapped ions to optical microcavities. We trap 24Mg+ ions in a surface-electrode Paul trap that includes an integrated optical fiber for detecting 280-nm fluorescence photons. The collection n...
