This article aims to explain the competence of transformational leadership school principals in improving teacher performance at Daarul Qur'an Karanganyar Science High School. research method includes qualitative with an ethnographic design. The data extracted this is information and documents about competencies principals, including ideal influence, intellectual stimulation, inspirational motivation, attention individuals improve performance. Data collection techniques used are observation, interviews, documentation. results study, namely, principal School showed that he had a powerful category influence competence, substantial variety Intellectual Stimulation strong type motivation potent class towards individuals. assessment 20 teachers considered have scored excellent category. study concludes understand their as Hendrayadi's theory, namely principal's efforts (a) motivating teachers, (b) increasing discipline, (c) creating conducive working atmosphere, (d) competence. implication input
