Transdiaphragmatic Intercostal Hernia Repair in a Patient with Previous Thoracic Surgery

چکیده
A transdiaphragmatic intercostal hernia (TDIH) describes the herniation of abdominal contents through diaphragm and chest wall defects. It has been documented following traumatic injuries as well after episodes increased thoracoabdominal pressure. However, those resulting from iatrogenic cause remain uncommon are less often recorded. We report an TDIH in a patient presenting 39 days complicated thoracic procedure, highlighting surgical technique used for successful reduction, diaphragmatic closure, rib re-approximation. The case reinforces possibility occurring post-surgical complication. Surgeons should anticipate potential development TDIH, particularly procedures patients with significant pre-existing conditions, such chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) cirrhosis. Such clinical awareness be coupled apt corrective strategies thereby providing greater opportunity recovery.

Endoscopic hemostasis of tumoral lesions is a challenging situation, since no endoscopic therapy has been proved to be superior3. Choice of therapy will be dictated by the tumor’s appearance and the personal experience of the endoscopist. Reports show that hemoclips have been applied in both successful2 and failed4 attempts to achieve hemostasis. In the present case, the tumor appeared to be fr...

Transdiaphragmatic intercostal hernia is uncommon and mostly related to blunt or penetrating trauma. We report three similar cases of cough-induced transdiaphragmatic intercostal hernia, highlighting the anatomic findings obtained with different imaging modalities (radiography, ultrasonography, CT, and magnetic resonance) in each of the cases.

A localized hepatic herniation (type 111) masquerading as pulmonary neoplasm was revealed in one, while in the other two cases liver herniation was accompanied by herniation of bowel (type XU). A history of trauma was present in all three patients with a latent period...
