چکیده

Abstract Background Late blight seriously threatens potato cultivation worldwide. The severe and widespread damage caused by the fungal pathogen can lead to drastic decreases in yield. Although grafting technology has been widely used improve crop resistance, effects of on late resistance as well associated molecular mechanisms remain unclear. Therefore, we performed RNA transcriptome sequencing analysis testing scion when blight-resistant variety Qingshu 9 susceptible Favorita were rootstock scion, respectively, vice versa . objective this study was evaluate influence disease clarify related mechanisms. Results A Kyoto Encyclopedia Genes Genomes pathway enrichment revealed that expression levels genes plant–pathogen interactions, plant mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling pathways, hormone signal transduction pathways significantly up-regulated rootstock. Some these encoded calcium-dependent kinases (CDPKs), chitin elicitor receptor (CERKs), LRR serine/threonine (LRR-LRKs), NPR family proteins salicylic acid synthesis pathway, MAPKs which response proteins. When rootstock, only a few upregulated 9. Grafted plants using resistant rootstocks inoculated with P. infestans spores showed significant reductions lesion size while no difference observed We also induction scions, especially scions derived from varieties mediated up-regulation involved scions. Conclusions Our results could render or enhance via up-regulating provide basis for exploring mechanism underlying resistance.

Late Blight Resistance of RB Transgenic Potato Lines

Late blight of potato (Solanum tuberosum L.), incited by Phytophthora infestans (Mont.) de Bary, is a devastating disease affecting tuber yield and storage. Recent work has isolated a resistance gene, RB, from the wild species Solanum bulbocastanum Dun. Earlier work in Toluca, Mexico, observed significant levels of field resistance under intense disease pressure in a somatic hybrid containing R...

Late blight resistance in a diploid full-sib potato family

Late blight, caused by Phytophthora infestans (Mont.) de Bary, is the most destructive disease of potato worldwide. As this pathogen can rapidly overcome major race-specific resistance genes, identifying the basis for enhanced quantitative resistance has become a crucial element for implementing advanced breeding strategies. A population of 230 full-sib progeny derived from a cross between two ...

Gene RB cloned from Solanum bulbocastanum confers broad spectrum resistance to potato late blight.

Late blight, caused by the oomycete pathogen Phytophthora infestans, is the most devastating potato disease in the world. Control of late blight in the United States and other developed countries relies extensively on fungicide application. We previously demonstrated that the wild diploid potato species Solanum bulbocastanum is highly resistant to all known races of P. infestans. Potato germpla...

Rpi-vnt1.1, a Tm-2(2) homolog from Solanum venturii, confers resistance to potato late blight.

Despite the efforts of breeders and the extensive use of fungicide control measures, late blight still remains a major threat to potato cultivation worldwide. The introduction of genetic resistance into cultivated potato is considered a valuable method to achieve durable resistance to late blight. Here, we report the identification and cloning of Rpi-vnt1.1, a previously uncharacterized late-bl...

Proteomic Study Related to Vascular Connections in Watermelon Scions Grafted onto Bottle-Gourd Rootstock under Different Light Intensities

Although grafting is broadly used in the production of crops, no information is available about the proteins involved in vascular connections between rootstock and scion. Similarly, proteome changes under the light intensities widely used for grafted seedlings are of practical use. The objective of this study was to determine the proteome of vascular connections using watermelon (Citrullus vulg...
