TRANSCRANIAL DOPPLER SONOGRAPHY IN CHILDREN WITH CONGENITAL HEART DISEASE UNDERGOING CARDIAC CATHETERIZATION
نویسندگان
چکیده
Children with congenital heart disease (CHD) remain at high risk for long-term neurodevelopmental disabilities. Acute neurologic complications, such as seizures, transient ischemic attack, intracranial hemorrhage, and stroke may occur in the setting of cardiac surgery catheterization.

متن کاملAngle-corrected imaging transcranial doppler sonography versus imaging and nonimaging transcranial doppler sonography in children with sickle cell disease.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Nonimaging transcranial Doppler sonography (TCD) and imaging TCD (TCDI) are used for determination of the risk of stroke in children with sickle cell disease (SCD). The purpose was to compare angle-corrected, uncorrected TCDI, and TCD blood flow velocities in children with SCD. MATERIALS AND METHODS A total of 37 children (mean age, 7.8 +/- 3.0 years) without intracrani...

متن کاملAsymptomatic congenital heart disease in children with skeletal chest deformity
Introduction: With respect to high association of skeletal chest deformity with cardiac abnormalities, these patients should be evaluated for evidence of cardiac involvement. So, we used echocardiography to investigate this association. Methods: This case-control study was done on 144 patients with skeletal chest deformity referred to OPD clinic. 240 persons were selected as control group, with...
متن کاملCardiac catheterization and long-term chromosomal damage in children with congenital heart disease.
AIMS Medical radiological exposure is associated with an additional risk of cancer. Children with repaired congenital heart disease (CHD) are theoretically at a relatively greater cancer risk as the radiological exposure can be intensive in these patients. Chromosomal aberrations test (CA) and micronucleus assay (MN) in peripheral blood lymphocytes are biomarkers of chromosomal damage and inter...
