TRAINING STUDENTS IN GETTING ARCHITECTURAL KNOWLEDGE FROM SMARTPHONE-BASED PHOTOGRAMMETRY: THE FIREPLACES BY ANDREA PALLADIO

Abstract. Since 2021, the Centro Internazionale di Studi Architettura Andrea Palladio (CISAAP) in Vicenza and Department of Architecture at University Bologna collaborated for a didactical joint initiative involving students from Photogrammetry course. The main goal was to develop new teaching approach architectural education exploiting photogrammetry as digital tool joining Architectural Heritage (AH) documentation with architecture analysis design interpretation. Beginning technological advances (semi-automatic workflows smartphone cameras use), ‘learning-by-doing’ method situated real work problems, whole systematic process, based on concept copy an artifact mean collect aggregate knowledge, developed inferred student. Starting designed path, which perspectives historian, surveyor, designer are blended get holistic vision architecture, 29 fireplaces by were chosen emblematic case studies.
