Traditional uses of some wild food plants in Suruç (Şanlıurfa, Turkey)

This research was carried out throughout a period of approximately two years between 2019-2020 and aimed to identify wild food plants frequently used by people living in Suruç district (Şanlıurfa) some its surrounding villages. 64 taxa belonging 27 families were identified through these interviews that we conducted with 44 people. The demographic information the interviewees, both local scientific names they use for purposes, parts methods preparing recorded. habitants region scientifically diagnosed at Harran University herbarium recorded as material. plant taxa, their names,their patterns value (UV) calculated presented table. widest discovered our are Asteraceae 10 (16%), Lamiaceae Malvaceae 5 (8%), Brassicaceae 4 (6%), Fabaceae Apiaceae 3 (5%) Rosaceae (5%); while genus have Mentha L. Crocus L., Euphorbia Malva Papaver Salvia 2 taxa. Food usually consumed after stems peeled, leaves make salads; cooked adding tomato paste, rice or egg, spice brewed like tea. Most common purposes above ground, leaf, stem, root fruit. Some cultivated natural purposes. Our literature review has revealed also medicinal different regions country.
