Trade openness and economic growth: Evidence from Azerbaijan

A review of modern economic literature shows the lack consensus on relationship between trade openness policy and growth countries. There is also an opinion that in emerging resource-rich countries presents more opportunities for development. Is this true, under what conditions does lead to growth? Exploring nature purpose paper. Therefore, economy Azerbaijan, rich hydrocarbon resources, has been chosen as object study. Next, VAR model using ADF tests Johansen’s cointegration was analyze evaluate causal growth. Trade ratio GDP per capita are variables. The study covers annual data from 1995 2020. It found there no relationships variables long run. However, a unidirectional short run, effect not statistically significant. results show Azerbaijan receives benefits by selling oil world market. Yet, short-run such feedback suggest specific problems diversification quality country’s exports.
