Tracking dietary fatty acids in triacylglycerols and phospholipids of zooplankton

چکیده
Abstract Fatty acids (FA) in lake zooplankton are largely provided by dietary FA and affected taxonomic composition of zooplankton, temperature, other environmental conditions. However, the extent to which retained and/or bioconverted remains unclear. In this study, we examined how (seston), temperature physico‐chemical variables (i.e., concentrations chlorophyll a , dissolved organic carbon, nitrate, ammonium, phosphate) explained variation membrane (phospholipids; PL) storage (triacylglycerols; TAG) lipids zooplankton. We tested hypotheses that: (1) increasing increases content stored as TAG whereas PL unaffected naturally occurring changes supply; (2) seston better predict variations TAG, predicts PL. Results show that an increase polyunsaturated increased but not eicosapentaenoic acid or docosahexaenoic Moreover, was more similar than it PL, indicating major taxon‐specific differences FA. Dietary predictor while is Temperature little This field study improves our understanding different taxa respond FA, chlorophyll‐ phosphate fulfil their physiological requirements.

Regiospecific Profiles of Fatty Acids in Triacylglycerols and Phospholipids from Adzuki Beans (Vigna angularis)
Regiospecific distributions of fatty acids (FA) of triacylglycerols (TAG) and phospholipids (PL) isolated from five cultivars of adzuki beans (Vigna angularis) were investigated. The lipids comprised mainly PL (72.2-73.4 wt-%) and TAG (20.6-21.9 wt-%), whilst other components were detected in minor proportions (0.1-3.4 wt-%). The principal profiles of the FA distribution in the TAG and PL were ...
متن کاملIdentification of Characteristic Fatty Acids to Quantify Triacylglycerols in Microalgae
The fatty acid profiles of lipids from microalgae are unique. Polyunsaturated fatty acids are generally enriched in polar lipids, whereas saturated and monounsaturated fatty acids constitute the majority of fatty acids in triacylglycerols (TAG). Each species has characteristic fatty acids, and their content is positively or negatively correlated with TAGs. The marine oleaginous diatom Phaeodact...
متن کاملIncorporation of Photosensitive Fatty Acids into Phospholipids
In an approach to the study of phospholipid-protein interactions in biological membranes, the photoactivable fatty acids, w-(m-azidophenoxy)-undecanoic acid (I) and o-(m-diazirinophenoxy)-hexadecanoic acid (11), were incorporated biosynthetically into the phospholipids of the Escherichia coli fatty acid auxotroph, strain K1060-B5. The extent of incorportation of the two fatty acids was 43% and ...
متن کاملEffects of dietary polyunsaturated fatty acids on ovarian function and prostaglandin secretion in lactating dairy cows
As lactating cows in severe negative energy balance have poor reproductive performance, the effect of dietary fat supplementation (fish oil, soybean oil) on PGFM secretion, ovarian function and blood metabolites is investigated. In this experiment, the effects of dietary polyunsaturated fatty acids on plasma metabolites, ovarian function and prostaglandin secretion of 20 primiparous Holstein co...
متن کاملDietary fatty acids and inflammation
Introduction: It is commonly believed that inflammation can be reduced by lowering the dietary ratio of n-6 (linoleic acid) to n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids as a means of lowering arachidonic acid levels in cell membranes. This review will examine this proposition. Results: Although many pro-inflammatory molecules can be produced from arachidonic acid and this long-chain n-6 fatty acid can be...
