Tracing the large-scale magnetic field morphology in protoplanetary disks using molecular line polarization

چکیده

(abridged) Magnetic fields are fundamental to the accretion dynamics of protoplanetary disks and they likely affect planet formation. Typical methods study magnetic field morphology observe polarization dust or spectral lines. However, it has recently become clear that dust-polarization in ALMA's regime does not always faithfully trace structure disks, which leaves line as a promising method for mapping morphologies such sources. We aim model emergent different molecular lines ALMA wavelength excited disks. explore variety disk models molecules identify those properties conducive emergence may therefore be viably used measurements PORTAL conjunction with LIME. Magnetic Fields in Protoplanetary Disks

Magnetic fields likely play a key role in the dynamics and evolution of protoplanetary disks. They have the potential to efficiently transport angular momentum by MHD turbulence or via the magnetocentrifugal acceleration of outflows from the disk surface. Magnetically-driven mixing has implications for disk chemistry and evolution of the grain population, and the effective viscous response of t...

Molecular Line Emission from Gravitationally Unstable Protoplanetary Disks

In the era of high-resolution submillimeter interferometers, it will soon be possible to observe the neutral circumstellar medium directly involved in gas giant planet (GGP) formation at physical scales previously unattainable. In order to explore possible signatures of GGP formation via disk instabilities, we have combined a three-dimensional (3D), nonlocal thermodynamic equilibrium (LTE) radi...

Tracing the Magnetic Field in Molecular Clouds

We discuss how the combination of polarimetry and ion-to-neutral molecular line width ratio measurements permits the determination of the orientation of the magnetic field in the weakly ionized parts of molecular clouds. Polarimetry measurements give the field orientation in the plane of the sky, and the ion-to-neutral molecular line width ratio determines the angle between the magnetic field a...

Accretion Disks in Large-scale Magnetic Fields

This paper presents a survey of a set of simulations of accretion disks orbiting a rapidly rotating Kerr black hole and embedded in a large-scale initial magnetic field. Each simulation uses a common state for the initial torus, including an MRI seed-field consisting of poloidal loops along isodensity contours, and differ only in the strength of the initial large-scale magnetic field in relatio...

Warm molecular layers in protoplanetary disks

We have investigated molecular distributions in protoplanetary disks, adopting a disk model with a temperature gradient in the vertical direction. The model produces sufficiently high abundances of gaseous CO and HCO to account for line observations of T Tauri stars using a sticking probability of unity and without assuming any non-thermal desorption. In regions of radius R ∼> 10 AU, with which...
