TPO gene rs2071400 polymorphisms as an independent risk factor for hypothyroidism in Iraqi patients

Introduction and Aim: Thyroid peroxidase (TPO) is a thyroid-specific antigen, the presence of TPO antibodies known to be associated with developing hypothyroidism. In this study we aimed investigate genotypes prevalent for SNP rs2071400 gene its association development autoimmune thyroid disease. Materials Methods: This involved 43 patients hypothyroidism 44 healthy controls. Genotyping (C/T) was undertaken using Quantitative Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction TaqMan® Assay. Data obtained subjected statistical analysis SPSS 25 software Results: T carriers (CT + TT genotypes) were more frequent in compared control (P=0.0006), an adjusted odds ratio 8.0. Serum levels Anti-TPOAb also significantly higher hypothyroid patients. There no significant correlation between mutation high Anti-TPOAb. Conclusion: Study revealed polymorphism independent risk factor those or without serum TPOAb.
