Toxicity of Malaysian Medicinal Plant Extracts Against Sitophilus oryzae and Rhyzopertha dominica

The insecticidal activities of extracts from 22 Malaysian medicinal plant 8 botanical families were tested against rice weevil: Sitophilus oryzae (L.) and lesser grain borer: Rhyzopertha dominica (F.). obtained using hexane, methanol, dichloromethane to extract potential biopesticides dried leaves. toxicity levels examined periodically based on antifeedant activity contact assays treated assay. Hexane Alpinia conchigera, scabra, Curcuma mangga, purpurascens, Goniothalamus tapisoides, Piper sarmentosum, methanol aeruginosa, C. Mitragyna speciosa the most potent S. R. with lethal concentration (LC50) values ≤ 0.42 mg/mL 0.49 mg/mL, respectively. test results showed that aeruginosa Cryptocarya nigra, hexane purpurascens resulted in 100% mortality both pests within 28 days exposure 5 mg/cm2 concentration.
