Towards Low Latency and Resource-Efficient FPGA Implementations of the MUSIC Algorithm for Direction of Arrival Estimation

The estimation of the Direction Arrival (DoA) is one most critical parameters for target recognition, identification and classification. MUltiple SIgnal Classification (MUSIC) a powerful technique DoA estimation. algorithm requires complex mathematical operations like computation covariance matrix input signals, eigenvalue decomposition signal peak search. All these processing make real-time resource-efficient implementation MUSIC on Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) challenge. In this paper, novel design approach proposed FPGA-implementation algorithm. This enables significant reduction in both FPGA resources latency. more detail, scenarios 2μsec with 30% to 50% fewer as compared existing techniques.
