چکیده

Alignment of communicative behaviour is an important feature Human–Human interaction that directly affects the collaboration and social connection conversational partners. With aim improving abilities a virtual agent, in particular its strategies related to (lexical) verbal alignment, this article focuses on alignment linguistic productions dialogue participants task-oriented dialogues. We propose new framework quantify both lexical self-repetition behaviours from dyadic transcripts. The involves easily computable measures based repetition patterns automatically extracted via sequential pattern mining approach. These allow characterisation nature these processes by addressing various informative aspects such as their variety, complexity, strength. This implemented freely available open-source software dialign. Using measures, we present contrastive study between Human–Agent dialogues corpora reveals major differences behaviours. Lastly, address challenge integrating capabilities artificial agents. To end, describe guidelines discuss integration proposed real-time system.

Automatic Measures to Characterise Verbal Alignment in Human-Agent Interaction

This work aims at characterising verbal alignment processes for improving virtual agent communicative capabilities. We propose computationally inexpensive measures of verbal alignment based on expression repetition in dyadic textual dialogues. Using these measures, we present a contrastive study between Human-Human and Human-Agent dialogues on a negotiation task. We exhibit quantitative differe...

Towards Agent-Based Cross-Lingual Interoperability Of Distributed Lexical Resources

In this paper we present an application fostering the integration and interoperability of computational lexicons, focusing on the particular case of mutual linking and cross-lingual enrichment of two wordnets, the ItalWordNet and Sinica BOW lexicons. This is intended as a case-study investigating the needs and requirements of semi-automatic integration and interoperability of lexical resources.

Comparative analysis of verbal alignment in human-human and human-agent interactions

Engagement is an important feature in human-human and human-agent interaction. In this paper, we investigate lexical alignment as a cue of engagement, relying on two different corpora : CID and SEMAINE. Our final goal is to build a virtual conversational character that could use alignment strategies to maintain user’s engagement. To do so, we investigate two alignment processes : shared vocabul...
