چکیده
Most research to date that has investigated cognitive processes in golf using the Think Aloud (TA) method analysed data deductively and statistical methods. Such an approach, however, can lead potentially relevant being overlooked assumes a priori coding schemes are valid reflections of phenomenon. Therefore, enable generation novel insights, this study sought qualitatively explore by inductively analysing TA captured during competition. Seventeen adolescent golfers (male n = 16; female 1, M handicap 5.43) were asked verbalise their thoughts while playing 6-hole competitive round golf. Data thematically relation pre-shot post-shot phases each author independently, with final findings produced collaboratively through use trustworthiness procedures. Cognitive six themes. Some consistently evident across shots, others differed depending on context. Before players reported: monitoring; planning; situational appraisals. Additionally, shots followed by: reviewing, evaluating, after also described context-specific: affective responses; distraction; psychological skills. The demonstrated benefits moving beyond quantifying cognitions inductive approach analyse data. extend current knowledge illustrating dynamic often deliberative process occurs decision making

Examination of the suitability of collecting in event cognitive processes using Think Aloud protocol in golf
Two studies examined the use of Think Aloud (TA) protocol as a means for collecting data of cognitive processes during performance in golf. In Study 1, TA was employed to examine if different verbalisation (Level 2 or Level 3 TA) instructions influence performance of high and low skilled golfers. Participants performed 30 putts using TA at either Levels 2, 3, or no verbalization condition. Alth...
