متن کاملTechnological innovations: a framework for communicating diffusion effects
The paper investigates the impact of the institutional aspects of the innovation±adoption process on the success of its implementation. More speci®cally, we concentrate on the adoption of ®ve information technologies using a data set from the aerospace and defense industries. We investigate such factors as advocacy, breadth of support, time of adoption, and intraorganizational communications. S...
متن کاملNew Directions in Research on Dominant Designs
Our theory provides an unambiguous definition of dominant designs (stable core components that can be stable interfaces) and the inclusion of multiple levels of analysis (system, subsystems, components). We introduce the concept of an operational principle and offer a systematic definition of core and peripheral subsystems based on the concept of pleiotropy.
متن کاملCreating a Framework for Research on Systemic Technology Innovations
This article examines why cognitively oriented technology innovations, designed to foster deep thinking and learning, have not become widespread in K–12 schools. We argue a key reason is that most design-based research does not explicitly address systemic issues of usability, scalability and sustainability. This limitation must be overcome if research is to create usable knowledge that addresse...
