Toward a skin dose-area metric predictive of moist desquamation using in-vivo skin dosimetry and skin assessments

چکیده

Background and Purpose: Moist Desquamation (MD) is a concerning acute side effect of radiation therapy for breast cancer, often seen in skin folds patients having large or pendulous breasts. In-vivo dosimetry, clinical assessments patient reported reactions were used to determine relationship between dose-area metrics the development MD, lend insight into tolerances possibly guide future treatment planning dose constraints.Materials Methods: Skin was measured using GafChromicTM film on inner surface an early prototype carbon-fiber accessory support remove inframammary fold 20 at high risk developing MD undergoing adjuvant whole radiotherapy. Prescribed doses 42.5 Gray (Gy) 16 fractions 50 Gy 25 6 to15 MV x-rays. To account fraction size differences, analysis performed equivalent 2 α/β = 11 (EQD211). assessed out weeks post radiotherapy by trained therapists outcome questionnaire. Results: Statistically significant differences areas receiving 30 48 (EQD211) observed who did not develop infra-mammary area. Patients EQD211 maximum ≤ 46Gy ≥38Gy 50cm2 their MD.Conclusions: The findings this study offer toxicity irradiated up Gy. Potential constraints test studies prevent are suggested.

Skin in vivo Dosimetry in Radiotherapy

Introduction: Due to the prevalence of skin problems in patients after radiotherapy, skin dose measuring is importance. Content: Skin in vivo dosimetry means measuring the patient's (or phantom) skin dose during radiotherapy. According to the ICRP 59, the dose at the depth of 0.07 mm is known as a skin dose. The most radiosensitive epidermis cells are located...

Skin Dosimetry of Some Beta Sources using the VARSKIN2 Code

Introduction: Skin dose and depth dose distribution of some beta sources that can contaminate skin or protective clothing covering the skin have been calculated using VARSKIN2. Materials and Methods: In this research, absorbed dose to skin and depth dose from the skin surface have been calculated for 90Sr/90Y, 147Pm, 32P beta emitter radioisotopes by using input parameters: activity of source, ...

Calculation of air gaps between bolus and skin on the dose received from the skin

Introduction: In the last few decades, a lot of monte carlo codes have been introduced for medical applications. For close - to - surface tumors, the surface of the skin can be used to increase the surface dose so that all or part of the bunch area can fall into bolus, thereby increasing the dose of the skin. The air gaps between bolus and skin can affect the dose of...

Granulocyte-Colony Stimulating Factor (G-CSF) accelerates healing of radiation induced moist desquamation of the skin.

DESIGN Clinical evidence from a few experimental and randomized trials have implicated the possible benefit of cytokines in prevention and healing of radiation induced mucositis. This pilot study was undertaken to assess the effectiveness of Granulocyte-Colony Stimulating Factor (G-CSF) on healing of radiation induced moist desquamation of the skin. RATIONALE FOR THE STUDY intervention with e...

Evaluation of the Entrance Skin Dose in Animals Undergoing Diagnostic Radiology Using LiF, Mg, Ti Thermoluminescence Dosimetry (TLD-100)

Introduction According to the International Commission on Radiological Protection publication numbers 60 and 21, the environmental control standards should ensure human and other species protection to a desirable degree. Since application of radiographic procedures in Veterinary Medicine has increased significantly, in this study, we aimed to evaluate the entrance skin dose to the animals (e.g....
