Torsional response of relativistic fermions in 2 + 1 dimensions
We consider the equilibrium partition function of an ideal gas of Dirac fermions minimally coupled to torsion in 2 + 1 dimensions. We show that the energy-momentum tensor reproduces the Hall viscosity and other parity violating terms of first order in the torsion. We also consider the modifications of the constitutive relations, and classify the corresponding susceptibilities. An entropy curren...
متن کاملCluster simulation of relativistic fermions in two space-time dimensions
For Majorana-Wilson lattice fermions in two dimensions we derive a dimer representation. This is equivalent to Gattringer’s loop representation, but is made exact here on the torus. A subsequent dual mapping leads to yet another representation in which a highly efficient Swendsen-Wang type cluster algorithm is constructed. It includes the possibility of fluctuating boundary conditions. It also ...
متن کاملFermions in a Multi-Soliton Background in 1+1 Dimensions
We consider the fermionic bound states associated with a soliton-antisoliton pair in 1+1 dimensions which have zero energy when the solitons are infinitely far apart. We calculate the energies of these states when the solitons are separated by a finite distance. The energies decay exponentially with the distance between the soliton and antisoliton. When the fermion mass is much larger than the ...
متن کاملVacuum State of Lattice Gauge Theory with Fermions in 2+1 Dimensions
We investigate the vacuum state of the lattice gauge theory with fermions in 2+1 dimensions. The vacuum in the hermite form for the fermion part is obtained while the vacuum in the unitary form is proposed by Luo and Chen. It is shown that the hermite vacuum has the lower energy than the unitary one through the variational method.
متن کاملFermions and solitons in the O(3) nonlinear sigma model in 2+1 space-time dimensions.
The field theory lim it of antiferromagnetism with holes is described using the O(3) nonlinear sigma mode l. The m inimal coupling to the spin-wave gives a Pauli term that couples the hole charge density to the topological charge density for solitons. This term leads to drastic consequences; an attractive potential for holes and solitons, spin-charge coupling for the holes and zero-momentum mod...
