Topology of Project Management Office in United Arab Emirates Project-Based Organizations

Majority of projects failed due to mismanagement factors such as funds, planning, time, and resources. With the adoption Project Management Office (PMO) in an organization, it able manage practises through a distinctive office dedicated project management with specific roles functions that should be followed by officer for all projects. The positioning PMO organisational structure its job responsibilities, are critical success. This paper presents study uncover topology project-based organizations United Arab Emirates (UAE). qualitative was conducted interviews twenty professionals working from four companies UAE. Based on findings interview sessions, PMOs can divided into three types: supportive, controlling, directive. result indicates type chosen have significant impact efficiency delivery. While controlling approach, is desired "clear-house" activities, processes, procedures, documentation, more, organisation requires help used addition providing it, supportive best choice if goal establish "rein in" data managers within firm may freely access. Furthermore, Directive goes beyond simple control "takes over" necessary resources expertise. According interviews, performs variety functions, including support, training, lesson-learned maintenance, tool software control, inter-project communication, managing shared resources, encouraging good decision-making. forecasts future resource requirements, plans strategic, non-billable, billable usage, assigns appropriate at times. improves utilisation efficiency, significantly lowers costs.
