A Schlichtness Theorem for Envelopes of Holomorphy
Let Ω be a domain in C. We prove the following theorem. If the envelope of holomorphy of Ω is schlicht over Ω, then the envelope is in fact schlicht. We provide examples showing that the conclusion of the theorem does not hold in Cn, n > 2. Additionally, we show that the theorem cannot be generalized to provide information about domains in C whose envelopes are multiply sheeted.
متن کاملTopological Cohen–Macaulay criteria for monomial ideals
Scattered over the past few years have been several occurrences of simplicial complexes whose topological behavior characterize the Cohen–Macaulay property for quotients of polynomial rings by arbitrary (not necessarily squarefree) monomial ideals. It is unclear whether researchers thinking about this topic have, to this point, been aware of the full spectrum of related developments. Therefore,...
متن کاملTopological Criteria for k - formal Arrangements ∗ Stefan
We prove a criterion for k-formality of arrangements, using a complex constructed from vector spaces introduced in [2]. As an application, we give a simple description of k-formality of graphic arrangements: Let G be a connected graph with no loops or multiple edges. Let ∆ be the flag (clique) complex of G and let H•(∆) be the homology of the chain complex of ∆. If AG is the graphic arrangement...

متن کاملTopological Index Criteria in DAE for Water Networks ZIB-Report 05-49 (December 2005) TOPOLOGICAL INDEX CRITERIA IN DAE FOR WATER NETWORKS
The dynamics of pressurized water networks are naturally modeled by differential-algebraic equations (DAE). This article investigates fundamental structural properties of such a DAE model under weak regularity assumptions. The usual algebraic index-1 condition is shown to be necessary and sufficient with respect to several index concepts, as well as sufficient for solvability in a strong sense....
