The Green New Deal requires a profound transformation of the agricultural sector, which will have to become more sustainable and ensure universal access healthy food. Thus, it be essential introduce radical technological innovations. Nanotechnologies potential produce significant boost improvement food system. Within this context, in next years, strong challenge need faced regarding developing new efficient uses nutrients agriculture, being nutrient use efficiency (NUE) paramount sustaining high crop productivity without depleting biodiversity, altering both natural systems. Nutrients leaching causes environmental pollution water eutrophication, while excess favors pest weed widespread. Therefore, mandatory improve plant nutrition affecting economic sustainability. A promising alternative consists introduction so-called nanomaterial enhanced fertilizers growth stimulators. Such innovation includes nanotechnological solutions that can delivery for finely tuned, accurate, saving-resources distribution nutrients. This review provides critical view latest advances nanofertilizer research, mainly referring nano-hydroxyapatite, silica nanoparticles, chitosan-derived nanostructures.
