چکیده

Direct laryngoscopy and intubation can lead to increase in heart rate blood pressure by 20-27% 30-50% respectivelyIt produces stimulation of laryngeal tracheal sensory receptors resulting a marked the release sympathetic amines may cause hypertensive crisis.Clonidine has anti-hypertensive properties helps enhance effects anaesthetic agents while decreasing their requirements intraoperatively simultaneously also providing post operative analgesia, hence we consider it be an ideal agent blunt pressor response intubation. Here have studied clinical efficacy intravenous clonidine alpha 2 agonist dose 1mcg/kg as pre medication for endotracheal patients undergoing general anaesthesia There was significant difference haemodynamic parameters such rate, systolic diastolic pressures mean arterial without much change from baseline premedicated with compared those who were placebo, immediately at 5 minutes Clonidine given intravenously premedication safely attenuate

A Comparative Clinical Study of Oral Clonidine versus Intravenous Clonidine for Attenuation of Haemodynamic Response to Endotracheal Intubation

Background And Objectives: Laryngoscopy with or without tracheal intubation amounts to a highly noxious stimulus to the homeostasis of the patient. Many a times under lighter planes of anaesthesia it elicits a defence mechanism in the form of haemodynamic response to stress, which involves activation of adrenocortical system. This study was conducted to compare the effects of oral Clonidine and...

Neuropeptide Y response to tracheal intubation in anaesthetized children: effects of clonidine vs midazolam as premedication.

We have determined if tracheal intubation causes an increase in neuropeptide Y (NPY), a marker of major adrenergic activation, and investigated if rectal premedication with clonidine 2.5 micrograms kg-1 might be capable of attenuating the stress response to tracheal intubation compared with midazolam 300 micrograms kg-1, in 20 paediatric patients (1-9 yr). Prospective randomization was performe...

Clinical Report—Premedication for Nonemergency Endotracheal Intubation in the Neonate

Endotracheal intubation is a common procedure in newborn care. The purpose of this clinical report is to review currently available evidence on use of premedication for intubation, identify gaps in knowledge, and provide guidance formaking decisions about the use of premedication. Attenuation of hemodynamic responses following laryngoscopy and tracheal intubation -- comparative assessment of clonidine and gabapentin premedication.

OBJECTIVE The present study was conducted to compare the effect of clonidine and gabapentin premedication in modifying the hyperdynamic response following laryngoscopy and tracheal intubation. METHODS AND MATERIALS Seventy-five ASA I-II patients of both sexes (37 males (49.3%), 38 females (50.7%)) 18 to 45 years (mean 32.8 +/- 8.65 yr.) were randomly allocated into three equal groups (25 each...

Premedication for endotracheal intubation in the newborn infant.

Endotracheal intubation, a common procedure in newborn care, is associated with pain and cardiorespiratory instability. The use of premedication reduces the adverse physiological responses of bradycardia, systemic hypertension, intracranial hypertension and hypoxia. Perhaps more importantly, premedication decreases the pain and discomfort associated with the procedure. All newborn infants, ther...
