Tito and Children in Political Folklore 1980: Wishes for Tito's Speedy Recovery

In 1980 Tito's health deteriorated. The citizens of Yugoslavia followed the news about course his illness with apprehension and anticipation. From January to May 1980, sent more than four hundred thousand messages wishing Tito a speedy recovery. Among most numerous were children. Starting from assumption closeness between political socialization, folklore culture in Yugoslav society, this paper I analyze some basic motives present that children Tito. Insight into editors publication "Tito. Messages, wishes - Yugoslavia" call "vow", sense promise will preserve achievements socialism, it enables reconstruction myths representation within children's culture. narrative recognition following motives: as hero fighter against all evil; 2. solar deity; 3. an (imaginary) friend protector world. For purposes paper, for recovery are understood genre, specifics folklore.
