چکیده

2-methylisoborneol (2-MIB) is a common taste and odor compound caused by off-flavor secondary metabolites, which represents one of the greatest challenges for drinking water utilities worldwide. A TiO2-coated activated carbon (TiO2/PAC) has been synthesized using sol-gel method. new TiO2/PAC photocatalyst successfully employed in photodegradation 2-MIB under UV light irradiation. In addition, combined results XRD, SEM-EDX, FTIR UV-Vis suggested that nano-TiO2 had loaded on surface PAC. Experimental removal indicated adsorption capacities PAC were higher than TiO2/PAC. However, natural organic matter (NOM) bearing water, efficiency 97.8% 65.4%, respectively, Moreover, it was shown presence NOMs distinct effect MIB simplified equivalent background (SEBC) model could not only be used to describe competitive NOM, but also represent photocatalytic process. comparison other related studies, there are few novel composite photocatalysts efficiently rapidly remove combination photocatalysis.

Characteristics of adsorptive removal of 2-methylisoborneol by micro-milled activated carbon

In both research and practice of water purification technology, superfine powdered activated carbon (SPAC), which is produced from conventionally sized powdered activated carbon (PAC) by wet milling in a bead mill, has attracted attention for its higher adsorption capacity of contaminants as well as the higher adsorptive uptake speed than its parent PAC. However, the previous SPAC researches on...

Geosmin and 2-methylisoborneol removal using superfine powdered activated carbon: shell adsorption and branched-pore kinetic model analysis and optimal particle size.

2-Methylisoborneol (MIB) and geosmin are naturally occurring compounds responsible for musty-earthy taste and odor in public drinking-water supplies, a severe problem faced by many utilities throughout the world. In this study, we investigated adsorptive removal of these compounds by superfine powdered activation carbon (SPAC, particle size <1 μm) produced by novel micro-grinding of powdered ac...

Reduction and Removal of Chromium VI in Water by Powdered Activated Carbon

Cr adsorption on wood-based powdered activated carbon (WPAC) was characterized by scanning electron microscopy coupled with energy dispersive spectroscopy (SEM-EDS), Raman spectroscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The highest Cr(VI) adsorption (40.04%) was obtained under acidic conditions (pH 3), whereas Cr removal at pH 10 was only 0.34%. The mechanism of Cr(VI) removal from aq...
