TiO2-enhanced chitosan/cassava starch biofilms for sustainable food packaging

Biopolymeric films with the addition of nanoparticles have been studied as an alternative to replace petroleum-based synthetic packaging, which is difficult recycle and leads a major environmental problem. The goal this study develop characterise biopolymeric chitosan cassava starch titanium dioxide (TiO 2 ) for use food packaging. Chitosan film (2% w/w), chitosan/cassava (1:1) blend were developed in absence presence TiO (0.25% 1% w/w) characterised terms physicochemical properties. results indicate that properties related water (permeability, solubility, sorption) mechanical (tension, elongation, Young's modulus) are strongly influenced by characteristics biopolymers used can be improved introduction . sorption was reduced , makes more hydrophobic exhibits higher tensile strength than 15% elongation 100%. also reduction transmittance 97% UVA, UVB, UVC regions, valuable feature preservation. • Ecofriendly material based on chitosan, developed. Hygroscopicity stiffness blends films. Water vapor permeability solubility decreased addition. led UV regions.
