Timed daily exercise remodels circadian rhythms in mice

چکیده

Abstract Regular exercise is important for physical and mental health. An underexplored intriguing property of its actions on the body’s 24 h or circadian rhythms. Molecular clock cells in brain’s suprachiasmatic nuclei (SCN) use electrical chemical signals to orchestrate their activity convey time day information rest brain body. To date, long-lasting effects regular SCN cell coordination communication remain unresolved. Utilizing mouse models which intercellular neuropeptide signaling impaired as well those with intact neurochemical signaling, we examined how daily scheduled voluntary (SVE) influenced behavioral rhythms molecular neuronal activities. We show that mice disrupted SVE promotes synchrony robust behavior. Interestingly, both deficient animals, reduces neural alters GABAergic signaling. These findings illustrate potential utility a effective non-invasive intervention elderly mentally ill where can be blunted poorly aligned external world.

Dissecting daily and circadian expression rhythms of clock-controlled genes

1 The identification and investigation of novel clock-controlled genes (CCGs) has been conducted 2 thus far mainly in model organisms such as nocturnal rodents, with limited information in 3 humans. Here, we aimed to characterize daily and circadian expression rhythms of CCGs in 4 human peripheral blood during a sleep/sleep deprivation (S/SD) study and a constant routine 5 7 in the S/SD study, ...

The circadian cycle: daily rhythms from behaviour to genes.

The daily recurrence of activity and rest are so common as to seem trivial. However, they reflect a ubiquitous temporal programme called the circadian clock. In the absence of either anatomical clock structures or clock genes, the timing of sleep and wakefulness is disrupted. The complex nature of circadian behaviour is evident in the fact that phasing of the cycle during the day varies widely ...

Circadian rhythms.

1997 marks the 25th anniversary of the discovery of the master circadian pacemaker in mammals in the hypothalamic suprachiasmatic nucleus. Remarkable progress has been made over the last 25 years in elucidating the physiological mechanisms involved in the entrainment, generation and expression of circadian rhythms at the cellular and systems levels. The recent discovery and cloning of the first...

Circadian rhythms, skeletal muscle molecular clocks, and exercise.

Skeletal muscle comprises approximately 40% of total body mass and, as such, contributes to maintenance of human health. In this review, we discuss the current state of knowledge regarding the role of molecular clocks in skeletal muscle. In addition, we discuss a new function for exercise as a time-setting cue for muscle and other peripheral tissues.

Circadian rhythms.

Circadian rhythms are a ubiquitous adaptation of eukaryotic organisms to the most reliable and predictable of environmental changes, the daily cycles of light and temperature. Prominent daily rhythms in behavior, physiology, hormone levels and biochemistry (including gene expression) are not merely responses to these environmental cycles, however, but embody the organism's ability to keep and t...
