Time-to-Event Supervised Genetic Algorithm Enables Induction Chemotherapy Decision Making for Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma

چکیده
Do nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) patients benefit from induction chemotherapy (IC)? This problem is of great clinical interest; however, it difficult to obtain an accurate and interpretable model inform IC decisions for NPC patients. In this study, a time-to-event supervised genetic algorithm was developed decision-making algorithm, the fitness function directly related time-to-event, which reflects therapeutic effect NPC. Then, optimal models are obtained by stability validation analysis. The comprehensive determined feature analysis using “or” operation. overall survival non-IC vs. in potential group 63.4% 81.5%, with p = 0.020, exhibited good generalization ability. However, benefits OS according current NCCN guidelines limited (p > 0.05). None possible processes LASSO we tried could significant validated testing cohort. proposed method provides construction process, reasonable data grouping strategy, concise experimental design, convenient application. Moreover, will develop toolkit treatment research facilitate use clinicians provide technical support precision medicine.

متن کاملCausal Induction Enables Adaptive Decision Making
The present paper examines the interplay between causal reasoning and decision making. We use a repeated decision making paradigm to investigate how people adapt their choice behavior when being confronted with changes in the decision environment. We argue that people are sensitive to the causal texture of a decision problem and adjust their choice behavior in accordance with their causal belie...
متن کاملDecision making in a hybrid genetic algorithm
There are several issues that need to be taken in consideration when designing a hybrid problem solver. This paper focus on one of them | decision making. More speciically, we address the following questions: given two diierent methods, how to get the most out of both of them? When should we use one and when should we use the other in order to get maximum eeciency? These are fundamental questio...
متن کاملA randomized trial of induction chemotherapy plus concurrent chemoradiotherapy versus induction chemotherapy plus radiotherapy for locoregionally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma.
The aim of this randomized study was to compare the efficacy of induction chemotherapy plus concurrent chemoradiotherapy (IC+CCRT) versus induction chemotherapy plus radiotherapy (IC+RT) for patients with locoregionally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma. From August 2002 to April 2005, 408 patients were randomly divided into two groups: an IC+CCRT group and an IC+RT group. Patients in both grou...

We propose a multidimentional time-point model and algorithm to solve Multi-Event Expert Query Parametric Estimation (ME-EQPE) problems over multivariate time series. Our proposed model and algorithm combine the strengths of both domain-knowledge-based and formal-learning-based approaches to learn optimal decision parameters for maximizing utility over multivariate time series. More specificall...
