Time-Domain Fault Location Algorithm for Double-Circuit Transmission Lines Connected to Large Scale Wind Farms

This article introduces a new time-domain fault location algorithm for two-terminal parallel transmission lines connected to large scale wind farms. The proposed employs only half-cycle data window of synchronized current samples at both line terminals avoid inaccurate estimation phasors due the generated sub- and inter-harmonics currents by does not need any transformation method decouple double-circuit line. Moreover, it takes into consideration effect asymmetry potential couplings between six phases. equation is deduced equalizing differential components calculated instantaneous voltages point, then distance estimated directly without iterative algorithm. emulated PSCAD/EMTDC platform utilizing frequency-dependent phase model, required calculations are conducted MATLAB software. tested several resistances locations, all types, including cross-circuit faults. In addition, measurement, synchronization, parameters errors on accuracy investigated. obtained results confirm acceptable
