TiltWalker: Operating a Telepresence Robot with One-Hand by Tilt Controls on a Smartphone

Mobile clients for telepresence robots are cluttered with interactive elements that either leave a little room the camera feeds or occlude them. Many do not provide meaningful feedback on robot's state and most require use of both hands. These make maneuvering difficult mobile devices. TiltWalker enables controlling robot one hand using tilt gestures smartphone. In series studies, we first justify Web platform, determine how far fast users can without compromising comfort legibility display content, identify velocity-based function well-suited control-display mapping. We refine based findings these then compare it default method in final study. Results revealed is significantly faster more accurate than method.
